ICICI Mutual Fund has launched its first Capital Protection Oriented Fund - ICICI Prudential Capital Protection Oriented Series 1. It is a closed ended Debt-oriented conservative fund.
Investment objective and strategy: The objective of the scheme is to seek to protect capital by investing a portion of the portfolio in good quality debt securities and money market instruments and also to provide capital appreciation by investing the balance in equity and equity related instruments. The scheme will follow a passive investment strategy for the fixed income component of the scheme. As per its mandate, the fund manager may invest upto 88% in debt securities and money market instruments and upto 12% in equity and equity related instruments.
Fund Manager:
The equity and debt portion of the portfolio will be managed by Mr. Chaitanya Pande and Mr. Mrinal Singh, respectively. Mr. Chaitanya Pande has done PGDM from IMI New Delhi and has 15 years of Fund Management experience. He also manages 13 other debt schemes. Mr. Mrinal Singh has done PGDM from SPJIMR, Mumbai and has 8 years of experience and also manages 7 other schemes.
Fund House: ICICI Prudential MF has been around for more than 16 years and its assets under management as on 31 March 2011, stands at around Rs. 73552. Since then, it has launched many schemes in almost every category.
