Sahaj LPG Scheme - Apply for New LPG Connection Online

 

Wow!! One more step towards Digitalization or rather I would say a leap towards Digitalization. The Government has launched a web portal called Sahaj LPG Scheme on MyLPG.in which enables citizens to apply for new connection online.

How to Apply for New Sahaj LPG Connection Online?

The uploaded Scanned Application Form and KYC documents (ID proof and Address Proof) will be verified within 48 days and if all the information are in order, system will automatically choose the best suited dealer for the customer and ID number will be allotted. Once the message of email of ID number is received user is required to make the payment online which will be cross checked with ID number again.  After payment the new connection will be delivered by the selected LPG agency to the customer at the door-step in next 3 to 4 days. Thus the total time will be one week (seven working days) to get new LPG connection provided all the required information and documents furnished are true and correct.

Dealer's representative will also provide cylinder and rubber pipe along with the new connection. Customer can apply for new stove while making payment for new connection. Further, MyPLG portal also enables customers to book their cylinder, track cylinder booking and delivery dates, monitor transfer of subsidy to their bank account under PAHAL, choose the distributor and giving-up or surrender the connection online.

 

Sahaj Scheme will further eliminate the malpractice of some dealers selling gas stoves, tubes or other household items forcefully before providing new connection.

Currently the service of online application is available for 12 cities namely Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Lucknow and Pune; other cities will be covered in next few weeks.

In addition to this government is also planning to launch a mini gas cylinder of 2 kg which will be made available at local kirana stores. In October, 2013, gas cylinder of 5kg was launched at Rs.155 and now a lot smaller gas cylinder of 2 kg is decided to be launched to help the migrants, students or economically weaker people who either cannot afford bigger cylinder or could not produce the address proof to register for the 14.2 kg gas cylinder.
